What is a Microprocessor?
As name implies microprocessor is a micro electronic device that fetches instructions from the memory location where these instructions are stored and execute the and perform a specific task according to the instruction.Instructions are generally located in the memory in the form of hexadecimal words.
Micro processor can also be define as the electronic chip which has computing (Analysis of data ) decision making capability.
There are various type of Microprocessor available in the market depending on the Data word length size and technology. Some of the microprocessors chip available in the market are listed below:
Micro-Processor Chip Bit length Technology
- 4004 4 Bit PMOS
- 8008 8 Bit NMOS
- 8080 8 Bit NMOS
- 8085 8 Bit NMOS
- 8086 16 Bit HMOS
- 8088 8/16 Bit HMOS Here H means High Density Channel. 8088 is developed by IBM. It is externally 8 bit and internally 16 Bit
- 80186 16 Bit
- 80286 16 Bit
- 80386 32 Bit
- 80486 32 Bit
